An Update on Ben

Hello to my CGD family,

I thought I'd update everyone on my Ben as it's been a while.  Ben's health has been remarkably well over the last year.  He started kindergarten in a public school in the fall and I was pretty terrified at what was in store with that.  Thank God, we've been infection free so far. Laughing

Ben has also been playing soccer in the local recreational league.  We just began the spring season of it and he's so happy out there on the field.  Watching the beauty of him with the other children, laughing, running, falling, getting up... it always fills my heart to the brim.

I always come here and read at least every couple of weeks.  It's so easy when his health is so well to start letting things slide, not be as vigilant.  But coming here always keeps me focused on what I have to do.  I'm so thankful for the people who have created and kept this website available to all of our CGD families, as well as all those of you who post and keep us on track.

I'll update again at a later date, in sickness or in health... we'll pray that it's in health!

Much respect and friendship,

Connie

Connie,

I am glad to know Ben is doing so well! It is hard at first to "let your guard down", but there comes a time we all do. With CGD it seems for us it has been in phases. Joey has nodules on his neck and has had them cultured. Blood and gram stain negative! He is on 2,300 mg of antibiotics and antifungals. We are so blessed though!

Keep us updated! Hugs to you all!

LaDonna

Thanks so much for the positive input, LaDonna.

Keep us updated on the nodules in the neck.  That's been Ben's biggest site of infections.  We've had drainage tubes in the neck, HUGE open holes where they removed the infections and lots and lots of i.v. antibiotics.  Thankfully, they've all healed nicely.  One actually burst on its own once, scared me TO pieces but was a blessing in disguise.

We truly are blessed, no doubt about that!

Love and Friendship,

Connie

One day at a time.... and smile. :)
