The CGD Café

Today, I have a very heavy heart.  I've read of two of our beautiful CGD family passing that I was unaware of.  I just thought I should take the time to share how fortunate I feel at this moment that my Ben is doing so well.  We can't take a day for granted!

Ben just graduated kindergarten.  Can you believe it?  A full year of public kindergarten infection free!  We've been so blessed and happy.  He's doing great now... enjoying all the things a six year old little feller is supposed to be enjoying.  I have to pry him away from the Wii a lot.  I think he would play Super Mario Brawl and those racing games all day if I'd let him.  When he's not standing in front of the tv, kicking those feet as he whoops bad guys, he loves to play soccer and throw balls on top of the house to see where they'll come down. *smiles*  He loves to play with toy dinosaurs and race cars.  He must have 1000 hot wheels that he races four at a time until a winner has been found!  And books!  He loves to read.

We've had some concerns lately.  He went to a soccer camp and after about three days, a place on his neck where he's had surgery became very red and irritated looking.  I had to take him out of the camp.  But with some TLC and aggressive antibiotics, it took care of itself.  He was also bit on the leg by some type of insect.  It became verrry red and large.  Again, a bit of TLC and meds seem to have taken care of it.

I feel so blessed as I sit here and type and hear him in the living room talking about using his "turtle shell" to knock out Bowser.  He's giggling and talking to his sister and just happy as can be.

I guess I just needed to lift my own spirits today.  I am so so sorry for the famlies of the little boys that have recently passed.  I hope all of you can find some joy of hearing of my little Ben.  The spirits of those that have gone on will live every day through those left here to fight this CGD battle!
