Reduced Intensity Conditioning vs. BMTOur son, Lukas, age 9 was diagnosed with CGD at the age of 2. We will be going through a BMT, but we want to explore the option of reduced intensity conditioning (RIC). The milder regimen needs to be looked at, but from what we've researched the RIC is relatively new and is usually performed on patients that can't handle a full BMT. He does not have a sibling donor; so this will be with an unrelated donor and at the present time he only has a 7/8 match. The registries are being searched for the 8/8 match. He is in excellent condition and was only hospitalized when he was first diagnosed with CGD. Is there information on the number of CGD patients with non-related donors going through the full BMT vs. the reduced intensity conditioning? Any comments are appreciated.
